Biography

Glass Artists, Richard and Anda Dillon, live and work in their studio ranch in the beautiful desert foothills of the Whetstone Mountains near Benson, Arizona. Anda has a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Arizona, and Richard has a Master’s in Communication Arts from Loyola-Marymount University in Los Angeles.

Anda specializes in designing and crafting beautiful dichroic glass jewelry including: pendants, earrings, watches, bracelets, and other dichroic jewelry accessories. Richard designs and creates larger glass works including crosses, bowls, plates, and figurative pieces.

Relying on their Southwestern heritage for themes, but not limited by them, the couple venture into new and exciting concepts with glass.  Anda’s work is collected worldwide, and Richard has been commissioned by corporations to create special works.

Developing new techniques as her own work evolves, Anda works with three kilns as she roduces her unique jewelry pieces.  Beyond kiln work, she has extended her techniques to include lapidary procedures.  She saws, grinds, drills, and polishes her glass... all by hand.  Adept at silver and gold wire work, Anda is able to embellish her jewelry and create unique one-of-a-kind pieces.  Richard assembles larger glass works using bold new color combinations in unique ways.  Each creation is and cut and assembled, and then fired in a kiln.

Depending on the piece, it is fired again, at a lower temperature, to conform to the shape desired.  Hand polishing using lapidary techniques is often employed to complete certain pieces and bring rough edges to optical clarity.  Using a torch, Richard also manipulates glass stringer into shapes and designs that can be fused into unique creations.
